About Paul Kessel

Paul Kessel is a native Arizonan who had the unique opportunity, as a nonnative American, to grow up on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation. He developed a profound understanding and respect for the landscape, cultures and traditions of the Southwest. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Humanities Commission and the Northern Arizona University Foundation.  Paul taught art and humanities for more than twenty years in the community college environment, and he has also served as the vice-president of two community colleges. As well as a professional artist he has practiced as a Certified Interpretive Guide. Paul has enjoyed the opportunity to help the citizens of many countries and visitors from all over the United States to better understand our unique land and its inhabitants. He is proud to be considered an avid environmentalist. Paul’s art work is in many private collections across the country and internationally.
